Michi Capital Co., Ltd. (みちキャピタル株式会社, the “Company”) handles personal information obtained in operating M Gear as follows, in compliance with personal information protection laws and other applicable laws.
1. Information collected
The Company may obtain the following information when providing the Service.
- Name
- Address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Date of birth
- Nationality, country of residence and other information necessary for identity verification
- Copies or photographs of official photo identification documents
- Height, inseam and other information necessary to check bicycle suitability
- Cycling experience, intended use and race or event participation information
- Rental history, request details, handover and return information
- Payment and security deposit information
- Information about accidents, damage, theft, loss and other incidents during the rental
- Information about browsing and use of the Company’s website
The Company may not itself retain credit card numbers or other information collected directly by the payment provider.
2. Purposes of use
Personal information obtained is used for the following purposes.
- Receiving and reviewing rental requests
- Identity verification
- Checking bicycle size and conditions of use
- Entering into and performing rental contracts
- Processing and settling charges and deposits
- Bicycle handover and return
- Responding to enquiries
- Handling accidents, damage, theft, loss and other problems
- Preventing misuse
- Improving the safety and quality of the Service
- Complying with legal requirements
- Notices and marketing where the renter has consented
3. Identification documents
Copies or photographs of identification documents are obtained for identity verification, contract management, and handling accidents, theft, damage and related matters.
They are generally retained for one year after the rental ends and then deleted. If an accident, theft, damages claim, payment dispute or other issue remains unresolved, they may be retained for the period necessary to resolve it.
When a My Number Card is used for identity verification, the Company does not obtain the reverse side showing the individual number.
4. Disclosure to third parties
The Company does not disclose personal information to third parties except where required by law, with the individual’s consent, or otherwise permitted by law.
The Company may, however, engage external providers to perform payment, system operation, identity verification and other work necessary to provide the Service.
5. External services
The Service may use external services for payment, forms, analytics and other purposes.
Each provider handles information in accordance with its own privacy policy.
6. Security measures
The Company takes reasonable security measures to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, loss, alteration and other incidents involving personal information.
7. Access, correction, deletion and other requests
The Company handles requests from individuals for access to, correction of, suspension of use of, deletion of or other action concerning their personal information in accordance with applicable law.
8. Cookies and analytics
The Company’s website may use cookies, similar technologies and analytics services to understand usage and improve the website.
9. Changes to this policy
The Company may change this policy in response to changes in law, the Service or other circumstances. Revised content will be published on the website.

Analytics privacy supplement
When Google Analytics 4 is connected, M Gear uses Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, only after you agree to analytics. Declining does not prevent rental requests or enquiries. No analytics tag is loaded before consent or while analytics is not connected.
We measure page views, categories of referral sources, views of the rental request page, and rental request and enquiry submissions accepted successfully by the server. A successful submission does not mean a confirmed booking or revenue. We do not send names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, free text, request references, or URL queries and fragments. External referral URLs are limited to known search and social service categories; search terms and arbitrary referral URLs are not sent.
After consent, Google Analytics cookies and similar technologies identify visits and sessions. Analytics cookies configured by this site expire after up to 90 days, renewed on return visits. Google may process IP addresses and device information associated with the connection, and information may be processed on Google servers outside your country. Advertising signals and advertising personalisation are not used.
You can change your choice at any time using Privacy choices in the footer. Choosing Necessary only stops further analytics and removes analytics cookies accessible to this site. It does not retract information already sent. This choice is separate from processing necessary for rental requests, enquiries and spam protection.
